Hotels in San Francisco, California
When searching for hotels in San Francisco with free breakfast, look no further than the Golden Gate Hotel. Each morning a complimentary breakfast of fresh croissants and reputedly the City’s strongest coffee and brewed tea are served in the downstairs Parlor. There is a cheerful buzz about the service creating a warm café atmosphere– a civilized start to the day. Guests love trading tips and stories of the previous day’s adventures across the breakfast table.
Our coffee is a Mocha Java medium roast, blended from washed Ethiopian Sidama and wet-processed Indonesian, balancing earthy richness and lively fruit sweetness. For those needing less of a morning zing, we also serve Nighthawks’ Royal Decaf, a blend of light and dark roasts grown in Mexico and naturally decaffeinated using the water process method (no chemicals), it is bright enough to stand on its own, but bold enough to punch through milk. Both superb coffees are provided by Thanksgiving Coffee, a local California company located in the Noyo Harbor of Fort Bragg. They are committed to ethical trading and sustainable farming not only in their work around the world, but also in developing their own local community on the Mendocino Coast. For more information please go to their website at www.thanksgivingcoffee.com.
Our morning black tea is a custom blended Breakfast at Tiffany’s loose-leaf tea that is a Leland Tea Company take on the classic English Breakfast tea. Leland Tea Co. is a Bay Area tea-house that sells and blends delicious loose-leaf teas. Organic tea and aromatic ingredients are sourced from around the world to be blended by hand locally. In keeping with the Golden Gate Hotel’s European style, we serve stronger pots of tea by steeping the leaves longer to bring out the floral notes and delightful undertones.
After exploring the sights of the City or unwinding after a day of work, guests wander back to The Golden Gate Hotel in the afternoon for complimentary Tea and Cookies in the Parlor. People often linger until dusk, striking up conversations with other guests, relaxing on the antique sofa with Pip, the house cat, and writing postcards in the late afternoon light.
Our complimentary afternoon tea is a Leland Tea Company Black Currant, a custom blended loose-leaf tea with fruit undertones made especially for the Golden Gate Hotel, to accompany our fresh homemade cookies. Enjoy.
